Summer Camps in Latvia and Ukraine

2018-08-01T10:09:05+10:00August 1st, 2018|

The first of the Summer Camps in Latvia began with a wonderful burst of joy and enthusiasm at the campsite near Riga in Latvia. There are 2 camps running back to back that have about 150 young people from the city youth groups coupled young teenage orphans who will strike up wonderful friendships. When the orphans leave their orphanages at 18 they are normally invited by their city friends to stay with them while they search for jobs in the city. This has been most successful in the past, and for some a stepping stone for work somewhere else in [...]

Amazing Ministry to the Latvian Military and Schools – April 2017

2017-06-12T16:50:51+10:00June 12th, 2017|

I flew in to Riga, Latvia on Sunday evening from the UK and began ministry to the Latvian Military the next morning. I have been greatly privileged over the last 7 years to conduct outreach seminars to the NATO military, navy, air force, national guard and military police. For these outreach seminars, I have used a PowerPoint presentation sermon (30 – 45 minute) with Latvian translation on the screen. My seminars this time have been entitled “Don’t give up - no matter what the circumstances” - I deliver these at slightly different levels for military personnel as opposed to teenagers. [...]

Latvia/Ukraine February 2016

The programme in Latvia was amazing. It was freezing with snow and icy cold winds each day. Ogre Men's Breakfast In Latvia I had wonderful seminars in the military high schools out in the country where the attention and respect was marvellous – even from some students who were challenged by my warnings to stay away from corrupting influences. The needy people in church services were very encouraged. Two Men’s Fellowship meetings at Ogre were very well appreciated. The church services at the Golgotha Baptist Church (where the Military Chaplain General is the pastor), and the large Russian [...]

A cold start in Riga

2016-10-25T15:12:47+11:00October 12th, 2015|

Today I enjoyed a cold day out in Riga. They are forecasting some snow this week. It was -3C at 6.30am Sunday. My Latvian manager, Sasha and his wife, Vera are fostering for one month, two 9 year old Jewish orphans from Donetsk, SE Ukraine, whose parents were killed recently by the Russian rebel army. The same age as Sarah - Sasha's little daughter. Dasha has ringing in her ears and hearing loss because of bomb explosions close by in Donetsk. I preached at the Word of Truth Church service in Riga at 11am and their youth meeting at 5 [...]

Latvia – Ministry to the Military

2016-10-14T12:30:56+11:00June 24th, 2015|

The first day of seminars to the Latvian military was amazing. The weather was very cold but no snow, thank God. It is amazing that this miraculous door to the Baltic Troops has stayed open for so long – 5 years. On this first day we travelled 260 kms. On these long hops between bases we stop for refreshment breaks and to plan the strategy at the next base. I enjoyed three outreach seminars to the military police, the army headquarters and the air force base (that was a particularly excellent attendance). It’s not difficult in a crowd like that [...]

“The Father of mercies and God of all comfort”

2016-10-14T12:31:12+11:00January 9th, 2015|

About two year ago Janis received Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the Word of Truth church In Riga during a Sunday service. However, he continued to drink alcohol and gradually stopped attending the services. His wife and children continued to attend though. About a year ago, when he fell ill and was hospitalized, we visited him. At the time he did not know his diagnosis, but he prayed a prayer of repentance, together with us again. We believe that he sincerely accepted Jesus Christ into heart as Lord and Savior. Then, on the morning of July 10th Janis [...]

Almants cycles in Latvia

2016-10-14T12:31:13+11:00October 24th, 2014|

This is Almants. He is part of a family of eleven children. They live in a rundown, ugly, former movie theatre in one of the remote areas of Riga. The building is so rotten and old that when they went in as a family to live there no one really cared. This is one of the buildings in which you really pray that the roof will not collapse while you are inside. A terrible place. However the family stuck together. Two of the older boys developed mid-stage schizophrenia. Most of the other kids have asthma and other illnesses. Government allowance [...]
