Here are the stories of some of the needy families we are endeavouring to support, care for, and bring back to health in the villages in the Odesa region. Please continue to stand with us to help these needy people and bring them into God’s family.

Nancy is a grandmother who has taken on the responsibility of raising her daughter’s three children after her daughter tragically passed away from cancer. She faces challenges every day in trying to feed and educate her grandchildren. The impact of living in the midst the atrocities of war has taken a toll on their daily lives, making it difficult to meet even the most basic needs. Nancy struggles to provide them with the essential resources they need to survive during these challenging times. The children need shoes and basic food, and they are struggling as they prepare for the next winter, particularly being in need of firewood to keep warm. We estimate she needs $200 per month.

Ivy, a single mother, is facing immense challenges raising three children on her own. Their bomb-damaged home requires renovations, and her children need new clothing to replace what they have outgrown. Once again, Ivy is needing to stockpile firewood to prepare for winter, plus they need daily food supplies. She doesn’t want to go the way many other single mothers do – selling their bodies to crude men for a pittance. She knows she’ll contract a disease that could hinder her care for her children or even kill her. Our suggested budget for her is $300, including firewood.

The Noble family are a resilient, large family – a grandmother, her two daughters, both single mothers, and their seven children. Life for them is a constant struggle. The mothers tirelessly take on any work they can find to make ends meet. They are facing dire circumstances, including the urgent need for food and medicines. The Noble’ home, an old village house, is in desperate need of wall and ceiling repairs, having been damaged by both weather and bombing. Moreover, their old gas stove is a hazard, threatening to cause a fire at any moment. The atrocities of war weigh heavily on the Noble, who strive to keep their spirits high despite the adversity they face. They dream of a safer, more comfortable life for their children – a life free from constant worry and danger. We estimate that a safe stove and essential supplies or food and medicine, plus firewood would cost $850 per month.

For Olivia and her four children, every day of this two-year war has been a battle to survive. For her, simply having a washing machine would make a huge difference so that they wouldn’t have to wear dirty and unhealthy clothing. Olivia’s family face a dire need for food and basic essentials. Please help us to support Olivia and her children (and other single mothers like her) by helping provide them with essential food and basic necessities. Your support can make a world of difference in Olivia’s life. Our suggested amount to help this family is $400.

Alan and Molly Smith, along with their eight children, reside in a small village. They have endured intensifying attacks while striving to maintain their sanity and be there for their children. Their home was once a safe, warm haven, but now cracks mar the walls, allowing the biting winter winds to blow in. Idris, their eldest son at sixteen, dreams of a future as a mechanic to support his family, but he will be called up to the army soon. A budget of $550 will keep this family and make their daily struggles easier to cope with.

Lucy is a remarkable twelve-year-old girl who lives with her father and sister in a small village. Her story is so sad, as her mother left the family to live with strange men. Despite this upheaval, Lucy’s father made a courageous choice to give up alcohol, seek recovery, and now tries to find meagre work to raise Liza and her sister single-handedly. Lucy has shone in academics and athletics and manages the household with precision. They require better clothes and school supplies to support her academic pursuits. They will need $200 per month.

Ian, a dedicated soccer coach, has devoted his life to children, including his own four kids. Sadly, a year ago, this loving family lost their mother to cancer, leaving Ian to raise his children as a single father. Despite this tragedy, Ian remains a pillar of strength and decency, doing everything he can to care for his family. The challenges they face are the need for firewood for the winter months, sufficient food and school supplies, placing further strain on their already difficult circumstances. Our suggested amount to help them is $100 per month.

Elisabeth is a single mother of four children, striving to provide for her family in a small village. Despite her best efforts, it’s a constant challenge to meet the needs of her growing children. The walls of her home are collapsing, and the children need school supplies, basic food and medicines, which are not available due to the war. She is a testament to the resilience and strength of single mothers everywhere. We have estimated she needs $200 a month to survive.

Ken is 12 years old and shoulders responsibilities far beyond his years. His mother, struggling with alcoholism and sporadic employment, often neglects her duties as a parent. Despite this, Ken remains remarkably diligent and responsible, single-handedly maintaining their home and excelling in school amidst the chaos. While many children his age are drawn into negative influences, Ken stays focused on his studies. He is determined to stay on the right path. Beyond these challenges, their home requires urgent repairs, with cracked and worn walls from consistent bombing. Ken himself lacks basic essentials like decent clothes. The family struggles with inadequate food and essential supplies. The harsh realities of life in a war-torn region adds a huge weight on his young shoulders. Despite the odds stacked against him, Ken’s resilience and determination shine through. He embodies the spirit of perseverance in the face of adversity, holding onto hope for a better future. We want to empower Ken to achieve a better future with $200 per month that we will administer.

Suggestions for your prayers for the Ukraine and its people

The following are just a few suggestions to guide your vital prayers:

• Pray against, bind the spirits of evil behind the attack on the Ukraine and loose the Holy Spirit over the nation and its people
• For the safety, peace and provision of the families mentioned above and all others in the Ukrainian people who remain in the land
• For the failure of all attacks that are made on the internationally recognised lands which are known as Ukraine which includes the restoration of the Crimea.
• For wisdom and righteousness of all Ukraine's Leadership to include the President and government, local government's, Defence Force, Police Force and Churches etc
• For the men and women who are bearing arms and fighting for their nations and for their families also
• For those at the House of Hope - their protection, health and peace. Also that the House continues to shine out brightly as a beacon of hope
• That all weapons raised against the Ukraine or bad words spoken over Ukraine and its people fail
• For the speedy and safe restoration of all essential services - electricity, gas, communication and transport systems
• That nations who agree to give aid, in what ever form, quickly deliver that aid
